Floods cause chaos in the Towy Valley

 

Gale-force winds and heavy rain caused serious disruption in the Carmarthen area. The River Towy usually overflows after torrential rain but on this occasion the floods were more extensive than usual.

The recently installed flood barrier at Abergwili was raised to protect the village, but parts of Towy Works, located at The Quay, Carmarthen, were under water.
